Resources, Signposting & Guidance

a laptop with the Children's Disability Register website displayed

The Children's Disability Register

The Children’s Disability Register is a confidential list of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families.

The register helps the Council and partners to plan what services, and support may be needed in their area for children and young people. The Children’s Disability Register also helps to improve a shared understanding between families of disabled children and the services those families use. Anyone who signs up to the register will receive a free Max Card (at the point any current card expires), which is a free discount card that allows families of children with additional needs or disabilities to get free or discounted admission to attractions across the UK.

Max Cards

The Max Card is a discount card for foster families and families of children with additional needs. Families simply show their Max Card upon entry to a venue that participates in the scheme in order to obtain free or discounted admission. The scheme is designed to help these families save money on great days out at castles, zoos, bowling alleys and more.

We aim to provide a sense of community through stimulating learning experiences and enjoyable days out for everyone.

Rotherham Parents Forum Limited is the charity that administers the cards to families who have children with additional needs in our area. If orders are recieved from outside the Rotherham area then they will be cancelled and refunded. If you are outside the Rotherham area and wish to purchase a max card then please refer to the max card website, the link is detailed below.

You can order a Max Card for £4 or see above for information on how you could receive one for FREE! Your card will be sent out via Royal Mail 2nd Class Post.
