All consultations with families help shape services and policy. Telling us about your experiences really does matter and helps to improve what is available in Rotherham.
Please share your views on the current consultations that are taking place by clicking on the links
below.
Right now, your voice is more important than ever.
The SEND system is going through national reform, with a new White Paper and a 12-week consultation taking place. This is a crucial time for families to speak up about what is working, what is not, and what must improve. Family voice is not optional, it is essential.
There are three key opportunities to shape change:
1. Locally (Rotherham) – Set Our Annual Priorities
We need to hear what matters most to you. Your priorities will help shape our yearly parent priorities and local development plan, guide our work at the forum and with local decision-makers and boards, including SEND partnership boards. What you tell us will influence local priorities, feed into local partnership boards, and shape the support and activities we offer.

2. Regionally (Yorkshire & Humber)
Across the 14 forums in our region, four shared priorities have emerged from families’ voices:
Your experiences continue to shape this regional work.

3. Nationally
We attend national meetings to make sure what we hear from you is fed directly back into the system. We push for changes that protect what families value and improve what is not working. As new opportunities to get involved arise, we will share them.
Below, we’ve included a breakdown developed by the National Network of Parent Carer Forums to help families understand the key priorities emerging from the reforms and what they could mean for SEND families.

At the end of 2023, we asked for your thoughts on Rotherham’s All Age Autism Strategy. We wanted to hear from Autistic adults, children and young people (no diagnosis required) and their families/carers.
Below is the write-up from that piece of work. RMBC will use the priorities arising from this Voice to form the basis of the implementation plan for the All age Autism Strategy. We tested out the priorities at groups and in the voice coming through RPCF & RANSS in February 2025, they remain the same. The top 3 to begin this work in 2025 are Mental Health & Wellbeing, Information & Advice and Autism diagnosis.

Thank you for taking the time to make a difference.
Here, you will find reports relating to surveys conducted by the RPCF voice and influence team during 2025.
Education, Health, and Care Plans Survey - Spring 2025
In spring 2025, we conducted a survey with our members to gather their current living experiences of the Education, Health, and Care (EHC) service. Our annual parent priorities survey highlighted EHC as a high priority; therefore, it has been a key focus for the voice and influence team.
Below are two links. The first is a visual overview of the survey findings, and the second is a full written
report of key themes and survey responses. The Voice & Influence team will continue to represent the
voices we heard through the survey alongside those we hear daily through the people we encounter
at relevant strategic meetings to hopefully shape positive outcomes for SEND families in Rotherham.
